Launched in March 2023, Three Ravens began with a simple premise: we would learn about and celebrate the history and folklore of England's 39 historic counties, one county per week.

Across the course of the series, Three Ravens went from enjoying a few dozen downloads per episode to a few hundred, and 'The Conspiracy of Ravens' was born.

Driven by word of mouth, the series grew enough to attract advertisers, which afforded us basic things like half-decent microphones and a budget for books.

It may sound a bit rough for a few episodes, but you can hear us learning and improving ahead of Three Ravens Series 2.

The stories from these 13 episodes also formed the core of what would later become our book, Three Ravens Folk Tales, published in hardback in July 2025 by The History Press.

Stories this series include, "Cuthman of Steyning and The Devil", "The Restless Witch of Sandhill", "The Mermaid of Zennor", "The Sockburn Worm", "The Legend of Guy of Warwick", "The Netley Abbey Phantoms", "The Blidworth Witch and the Buttermilk", "The Cockerham Devil", "The Queen of Bones", "Lord Lovell's Bride", "Brutus of Troy and the Giant Gogmagog,"and "The Wild Man of Orford".
