This page is intended for use by event organisers on the book tour connected to the release of Three Ravens Folk Tales (via The History Press) by Eleanor Conlon and Martin Vaux.
The tour will take place between July 2025 and June 2026.
Unless otherwise specifically arranged, most events on the tour will take the format of a two-hour podcast recording, including:
-
An approximately 1 hour 30-minute podcast recording, with 15-minute interval (though show length can be tailored)
-
A first half of the performance including a welcome and light-hearted discussion of several elements of local history, heritage, and folklore to suit the locality, venue, and time of year. Museum and historic place publicity is a must for us!
-
A second half of the performance including the telling of a short story based on a local folk tale by Eleanor or Martin, followed by a discussion of the tale’s origins and key themes
-
Eleanor and Martin will be accompanied by a musician, usually Ben Harber, who, in addition to performing the theme song live with Eleanor, will also perform at least one other place-appropriate folk song with her, and will provide live underscoring for the storytelling section
-
A post-recording Questions and Answers session with the audience
-
Pre or post-show Book Signings and Photo Opportunities with members of the audience

A General Introduction to Three Ravens Folk Tales
Episodes follow hosts Eleanor Conlon and Martin Vaux, two award-winning writers, as they explore the folklore and legends of England’s 39 historic counties, retelling a traditional story from that county, and exploring diverse aspects of folk culture.
Growing by word of mouth, during the podcast’s second year Three Ravens entered the Top 10 of the UK Fiction Podcast Charts, peaking at #8 and overtaking BBC series including The Archers, The Battersea Poltergeist, and The Lovecraft Investigations, achieving over 350,000 downloads.

During 2024 Eleanor and Martin also began appearing on local radio across the country to discuss aspects of England’s folklore, including on BBC Five Live, and were invited to appear at the Chichester Festival, where they performed their first live show podcast recording in front of an audience.
This was followed by a second live appearance at Battle Folk & Fable Festival in August, and the couples fifth and sixth podcast series, filled with more fun and stories, which saw Three Ravens ranked by podcast aggregator Goodpods as an All-Time Top 50 English Podcast, an All-Time Top 10 Myths Podcast, and an All-Time Top 5 Short Stories Podcast.
Their first book, Three Ravens Folk Tales, published in hardback by The History Press in July 2025, collects their first 39 stories – one from every historic county in England – and features a diverse range of legends retold in a family-friendly style, including those of local mermaids and monsters, witches and ghosts, vampires, giants, and half-forgotten English heroes.

OPTIONAL: Story Writing Workshops
As highly experienced educators and professional writers, Eleanor and Martin run workshops regularly and have done for years through Rust & Stardust Productions.
Our Three Ravens Folk Tales workshops, which are about folk symbolism, story structure, and folk literary traditions, can be tailored to groups of adults, children, or families, and all we need is a space with tables and chairs - so when you get in touch, let's talk possibilities!
